    Matt's Place with donation cheque

On May 26th - the National Day of Thanksgiving – over 16 churches from 10 denominations gathered for the third Kingston Mayoral Prayer Breakfast. The Breakfast is held primarily to give thanks to our own Mayor and to the community, but also to bring the Church together and help to forge links between the Church and community.

Another aim of the Breakfast is to raise money for a charity of the Mayor’s choosing. This year, due to the generosity of sponsors and those attending, $700 was raised for Matt’s Place – a charity that feeds a growing number of underprivileged at St Matthew’s Anglican Church in Cheltenham. Matt’s Place is staffed by volunteers from all churches in Cheltenham, and 5-10 government funded hospitality training staff. Bayside Church provides the chef.

Craig Milne, spoke on reasons to be thankful for what Australia has become, and the Mayor, Cr. Topsy Petchey, expressed her appreciation for the Church’s support for the Kingston Council and for volunteers in general – 90% of which come from the Church.
