Matt's Place is a new cafe at St Matthew's Anglican
Church, sponsored by the churches of Cheltenham, to bring quality
meals in a friendly environment to the lonely and those in need,
reflecting the love of Christ in a tangible way.
It is also an endeavour which seeks to bring the churches of Kingston
together in a an expression of cooperation by using volunteers from
all the churches to wait on tables, engage with the guests, assist
in the kitchen, cleaning, etc.
Bayside Church, via its social action arm, Bayside Dream Centre,
supports the project by providing a young chef trained in the operation
of kitchen and meals activities as well as 5-10 peole funded by government
grants who are being trained in the skills of hospitality, cooking
and food handling.
Matt's Place currently feeds approximately 60 people for Thursday
lunch on the corner of Nepean Hwy & Park Road, although this number
is growing. Volunteers and financial assistance are always needed.
